Title: Key Trends From the Dark Web on the State of the Cyber Threat Landscape in 2025.
The dark web gives us an unprecedented window into the cybercriminal underground. Monitoring dark web forums, marketplaces, and hidden sites allows us to gather intelligence directly from the source – the cybercriminals themselves – on how techniques, technologies, and tactics evolve. Our speaker will take the pulse of dark web trends as we look ahead in 2025, focused on three core areas:
- Gaining access – the techniques cybercriminals are using to initially breach the network – including credential theft, stealer logs, and impersonation attacks – based on intelligence we gather on Initial Access Brokers operating on dark web forums.
- Action on objectives – the types of attacks that cybercriminals are implementing once they have gained access to the network, including Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), data breaches, ransomware, and physical threats.
- Understanding the operational environment – how changes in the cyber threat landscape and within an organization’s own environment should be factored into a continuous assessment of security risks and priorities.
Title: The Correlation Between Dark Web Exposure and Cybersecurity Risk
The presentation of a landmark study conducted by Marsh McLennan and Searchlight Cyber. Ben Jones, CEO of Searchlight Cyber, and Scott Stransky, Head of the Marsh McLennan Cyber Risk Intelligence Center will present:
- Research conclusively demonstrating the correlation between an organization’s dark web exposure and cybersecurity risk, based on a sample cyber insurance loss data from more than nine thousand organizations.
- Explanations of the different types of dark web exposure and their relative impact on cybersecurity risk both individually and in combination.
- Advice on mitigating dark web exposure and cybersecurity risk.
Lessons in Risk From a Professional Poker Player – Caspar Berry
Caspar Berry will talk about risk, after he studied economics at Cambridge, he decided to become a professional poker living and working in Las Vegas. It was out here that he realized that every poker table is essentially a market within which each player is simply allocating scarce resources under uncertainty intending to get the edge to maximize returns on investment. Now the veteran of nearly 3000 speeches for clients including Google, Visa, IBM, Coca Cola and McDonald’s, he uses the poker metaphor as a way of explaining the definition of the calculated risk and how we can all take the gamble OUT of everything we do. His talk will include:
- What he learnt about risk, playing at the poker tables.
- How learnings from the poker table can be applied in a business environment.
- Lessons the audience can take away on assessing calculated risks.
